A calling card is, plain and simple, a means to cut your long distance costs. Here’s in what way that works: international calling cards are a way of dial-around; which means that when you use a phone card in making a phone call, you’re routing the phone call specially to obtain a lower rate. International phone cards typically come with 2 significant numbers: an access number, which is the phone number you dial prior to actually dialing the number you wish to call, and a Pin number, which you must enter to prevent some others from being able to access your account without your authorization.
A fairly new function to international phone cards now lets you register telephone numbers (from which you ordinarily make your calls) so that you don’t have to enter your Pin number whenever calling from these numbers. Read the rest of this entry »
